How wonderful, I look forward to hearing more.(and on a side-note, I have decided to make a sturdy bag)
Oh my goodness! What a commitment. I have been hinting around to my mom for years for a quilt. I think it would be the most wonderful, thoughtful, beautiful gift.
I'm really intimidated, and planning to start with just a nine-patch.
I want to learn to knit to do this very thing. I wouldn't care if it was ugly as ugly gets, no matter how it would/could/should look it would be warm, soft and a dull gray wool and it would keep me warm. That is all that would matter to me. My mother weaves. She has twelve looms [this is an exaggeration (i think) but I hint that I would love a woven blanket as well] and nice patterns for blankets. Wool is expensive though. Also I buy wool socks from http://www.customwoolenmills.com/ and they are simply the best.
